Proform Cardio Cross Trainer Elliptical

Smooth Ellipticals 468x60

Icon Health and Fitness are the makers of many different elliptical trainers sold at various fitness stores across Europe and America. Their trainers are known for being affordable and the ProForm crossover ellipticals strength trainer is a good example of that at $800.

This elliptical is of good quality though it is at the lower end of the price range for ellipticals. It is in essence two machines in one suitable for both cardio and strength training. For a strength trainer it is quite compact at 85 inches high, 37 inches wide and 83 inches deep. Maximum weight it can support is 250lbs. It is portable and has 65 built in exercises that target both upper and lower body muscle groups, meaning users can get whole body workouts and can build up endurance and stamina as well as muscle power.

All ProForm ellipticals are for calm light use, suitable for home use as long as you do not want to do hard intense sessions on it every day. Another model, the ProForm1280S can be found in any fitness or department store and sells for about $1000. It will give a complete workout but users have complained it is not a quiet machine. The slope of the stride can be adjusted for mixing up the difficulty of the workout but as mentioned it is still just for casual use.

The CardioCross 900 has enhanced technology for cardiovascular workouts, meaning as well as building stamina and endurance you can make your movement and leg power better too. There is built in technology called Reflex Step which as you stride absorbs the power and uses it for the next stride, basically it makes moving easier. There is also an EKG pulse and heart rate monitor.

Models from ProForm vary with their basic and more complex features to satisfy consumers needs. They make working out more interesting and give motivation to the user. For example the 1280S has a built in CD player so you can workout to whatever music you want. You do not get great warranties with ProForm though so it would be wise to get the extended option. Though not suitable for heavy use at a gym, for those only wanting to workout lightly 2 or 3 days a week, the ProForm is just fine.
